Make a Wish with Ink Blending Fun
I had so much fun creating this sweet birthday card for the This or That Instagram Hop! This time around, I was completely inspired by the background I created—so much so that I actually changed my original card design just to show more of it off!
Want to try something similar? Here are a few tips to help you recreate this dreamy ink-blended look:
Ink Blending Tips:
Stick to Analogous Colors
When ink blending, choose colors that sit next to each other on the color wheel—they’ll blend much more smoothly. I used Fresh Freesia, Petunia Pop, and Summer Splash for this background. Summer Splash has just enough blue in it that when it met Petunia Pop, it made the prettiest purple!Create Movement with Details
To emphasize the pink diagonal across the card, I stamped some subtle tone-on-tone confetti using Fresh Freesia. I also added my embellishments along the same path to draw the eye and enhance the flow.Ground Your Focal Image
To make sure my cupcake didn’t look like it was floating in mid-air, I used a light neutral marker to create a soft "ground" underneath it. Just a little detail, but it really helps anchor the design!Add a Hint of Shimmer
A touch of sparkle goes a long way! I used a Wink of Stella brush to add a quick shimmer to the frosting and stars—so easy and so pretty in the light.
This card was part of the This or That Instagram Hop and I’d love for you to check it out! You can find the hop and all the creative inspiration on my Instagram: www.instagram.com/stampwithlisak
