Altenew Educator Certification Program: All About Layering 3
Hello, Friends!
Today, I’m excited to share my very first submission for Altenew’s Educator Certification Program. This project is my final assignment for the All About Layering 3 class, which highlights Altenew’s beautiful layering stamps.
For my card, I chose the Happy Flowers stamp set. I stamped the flowers in Wisteria and Ultraviolet, adding the centers with Fresh Lemon and Honey Drizzle. The leaves were stamped in Firefly and Grass Field for a fresh, vibrant look. To complete my sentiment, I used the Label Love stamp set and cut it out.
Next, I prepared my card base by die cutting a vellum panel with the Circle Quilt Cover Die. I adhered the vellum layer over the card base to create a soft, subtle background that lets the flowers shine.
After all the stamping and die cutting were finished, I started arranging the flowers and leaves. I took my time experimenting with different layouts, moving the pieces around until I found an arrangement I loved before adhering anything in place.
A few tips for arranging floral elements:
Use odd numbers of flowers and leaves—this creates a more natural, balanced look.
Let some elements extend beyond the card edges, then trim off the excess. This adds visual interest.
When clustering flowers around a sentiment, make one cluster slightly larger than the other. The asymmetry feels more organic.
Vary the depth of your layers. For dimension, I glued the leaves and one flower directly to the card base, while the sentiment and two other flowers were attached with foam tape.
I hope this inspires you to try layering stamps and experiment with arranging your own beautiful floral designs!
Happy Stamping!
Lisa
