AECP: Clean & Simple Boutique Cards
Hello Crafty Friends!
I’m back with another card from my AECP journey—this one was created for the Clean & Simple Boutique Cards class. Even though clean and simple designs feel like my natural style, I was really excited to dive into this class. There’s always something new to learn and explore!
For this card, I used the Berry Whisper Press Plate with gold pigment ink the BetterPress LetterPress System. I experimented with a few different papers to see which would give me the best result. My first attempt was on black cardstock, which looked nice, but I wanted a little extra something. Then I tried black cold-press watercolor paper—and that made all the difference! The watercolor paper gave me richer ink coverage and picked up more of the letterpress effect, even showing off a bit of the paper’s natural texture for extra dimension.

To finish the card, I trimmed down the panel and matted it on gold foil cardstock. The combination feels so elegant—just the look I was hoping for!
✨ A few tips for creating clean & simple cards:
Try different types of paper. Even subtle variations can completely change the result.
Choose inks carefully. Pigment inks work beautifully with press plates and textured papers, while dye inks are best for smooth cardstock.
Add luxury with specialty papers. A small touch, like foil or shimmer, can elevate the entire design.
I created a few more cards while working through this class, and I’ll be sharing more details about them with you soon—so stay tuned!
