Build-A-Garden Fanciful Pansies
Hi Crafty Friends!
Guess what landed in my mailbox yesterday? Happy mail from Altenew! π And as soon as I spotted the Fanciful Pansies Build-A-Garden set, I knew exactly what I was doing today—no hesitation, it jumped straight to the top of my to-do list.
I kicked things off by stamping the floral image in a light neutral ink—Morning Frost happened to be sitting on my desk, but any soft shade would do the trick. I used it mostly to help line up the coloring stencils. (Pro tip: I kept the stamp in my MISTI so I could go back and stamp it in Obsidian black after the stenciling. It really makes everything pop!)
There’s just something so satisfying about layering up the stencils and watching the image come to life—it feels like magic with each pass. π
To turn it into a card, I used this week’s sketch from Freshly Made Sketches as my guide. The large floral die cut was a perfect fit for the layout. I dug into my stash and found some black gingham paper (because let’s be honest—gingham + flowers = a match made in crafty heaven). I added a strip of light green cardstock, tearing one edge to give a bit of texture and to mimic the scalloped element from the sketch.
Once I laid everything out, the background felt a little too plain, so I brought in the Dotted Debossed Cover Die for just a hint of subtle detail. It pulled everything together beautifully!
I'm so happy with how this card turned out. Can't wait to play more with this gorgeous set! πΈ
Happy Crafting!
Lisa
