Oceans of Love Sea Turtle

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I’m excited to share a card I created using the Oceans of Love stamp set from Pink & Main. For the background, I used a variation of the Emboss Resist technique called the Joseph’s Coat technique. It gave the design a look very similar to batik fabric, and I absolutely love the result!

Creating this card:

  • Start with the background panel:

    • Cut a white card panel.

    • Ink blend several colors randomly across the panel. (I used Altenew's Blueberry, Dew Drops, Firefly, and Jade).

    • IMPORTANT! Let the ink dry completely before moving on.

  • Stamp and emboss:

    • Stamp images with embossing ink.

    • Heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

  • Add the magic:

    • Blend a dark ink color over the entire panel. (I used Ride the Wave from Altenew).

    • Buff excess ink off the embossed images to reveal the lighter colors underneath.

    • The contrast makes the design pop—like batik fabric!

    Finish the card:

    • Attach the blended panel to a card base.

    • Die cut the sentiment with Altenew’s Versatile Greetings 2.

    • Stack 3 layers of the die cut for added dimension.
    • Add sequins for a bit of bling.

If you’ve never tried the Joseph’s Coat technique, I highly recommend giving it a go—it feels like cardmaking magic.

    Happy Crafting!
