Woodland Path Rescue

Hello Crafty Friends!

Have you ever finished a card background and thought, “Hmm… not quite what I pictured”? That was exactly how I felt after ink blending with the Woodland Path stencil from Altenew. I loved the concept, but my color choices just weren’t coming together the way I hoped. Instead of scrapping the whole piece, I decided to salvage it by trimming down the panel to spotlight a portion I actually liked. Sometimes a little creative cropping can completely change the look of a project!

Even after spotlighting, I still wasn’t completely satisfied — so I reached for my Must-Have Gel Pen Set from Altenew and started doodling. Outlines few gold accents here and there suddenly brought everything to life. The shimmer from the metallic pen added just the right amount of contrast and elegance, especially around the mushrooms and foliage. It’s amazing how a small touch like that can transform a card that almost ended up in the scrap pile.

To finish the design, I used the Scripted Sentiment Die Set and added a simple “thank you” with a gold shadow to tie everything together. The end result feels warm and autumnal, and it reminds me that “mistakes” in crafting often lead to new discoveries. If you ever find yourself unhappy with your ink blending or coloring, try cropping, layering, or doodling — you might surprise yourself with how beautiful the rescue project turns out!

Happy Crafting!
