Hello Sunshine!

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I’m sharing a bright summer card created with the Splash & Relax Bundle from Stampin’ Up! I had so much fun putting together these colorful floaties and experimenting with texture for the background. Originally, I planned to use an embossing folder, but I couldn’t decide which one would work best. Instead, I went old school and crinkled up my cardstock before adhering it to the card front. I love the soft wrinkled texture it created — it adds just the right relaxed beachy feel to the design.

Several of the stamps in the Splash & Relax bundle are two-step stamps, which makes it so easy to create multicolored images. I love how quickly the floaties came together with just a few ink colors! For the floaties, I paired Flirty Flamingo with Poppy Parade, Hydrangea Hue with Blueberry Bushel, and Lemon Lime Twist with Granny Apple Green. The layered stamping adds depth and dimension without any complicated coloring techniques, making this a great bundle for quick and easy summer cards.

One quick tip if you decide to try the crinkled cardstock technique: your paper will shrink slightly once it’s crinkled. I lost almost 1/4" from my original panel after crinkling it. I definitely recommend starting with a slightly larger piece of cardstock and trimming it down to your desired size afterward. It’s such a simple way to add texture and interest to your cards, and I know I’ll be using this technique again soon!

Happy Stampin'!
